My question is prompted by an ER: Improved Webdesk/SelfService Window design/layout functions
Is anyone thrilled with the current state of window design? Can't say that I am. I know LANDesk has made some attempts to improve Window design and I was wondering what the plan to improve things are or should we start making ER's?
We are being pushed to a web interface which is a good thing, should have lots of flexibility and no client needed. Yet the web interface has no ability to use HTML properties/tags nor use CSS style sheets. LANDesk customer's aren't your mom and pop businesses and organizations. We all have visual identities and a web department that wants to put their style on every web page. Were basically limited to a color package and a logo. Flip through www.kumc.edu and most other large organizations and you will notice a consistent theme inside and out of the organization. The fact that we can't create a WSIWYG window is not good. We can't change font style, size, color yet we could in console and should be able to on the web as well. I expect more out of an awesome package like Service Desk. The process and object handling are all very nice. Sure we want more, but in general there is a lot of power in the current tool set. The weak link is the Windows Manager and the Windows we create. In writing they would call it a run-on sentence. Everything is jumbled together one after another. As one of my web developers put it, "LanDesk has all the features and design elements you want, its just ugly to look at".
Should I start making ER's?
