I guess the Remote Control module was the culprit. We rebuilt the Client without the Remote Control and henceforth - no Blue Screens.
BTW - we also opened a LANDesk support ticket and have been given a fix for 9.6. We have not tried the fix though as the customer needs some business & change approvals before the fix can be applied.
The workaround of the Client without the Remote control works
