Present environment: 9.0 SP3 on a 32 bit Win 2003 SP2 server, SQL Server 2005. Mainly used for patching, package deployment, PC and server inventory
Future desired environment: 9.6 on a 64 bit Win2K8 server, SQL Server 2012. Same uses as above but also Data Analytics.
We were originally going to upgrade to 9.5 SP2 because we couldn't do an in place upgrade and we were told 9.6 required Win Server 2012 (Windows 2012 or later client CALs will not be purchased until late next year or 2016)
We now plan on upgrading to 9.5 SP2 on the new hardware, then doing an in place upgrade to 9.6.
I have a couple questions:
1. Has anyone done anything similar to the above? Gotchas, lessons learned, etc?
2. Since we're adding Data Analytics, do we have to install it on the interim upgrade to 9.5 SP2 or can we just install it when we do the in place upgrade to 9.6?
3. For those of you using Data Analytics, has it increased your CPU and memory requirements on your core or database servers? If so, can you share the details?
4. I am very interested in the real life experiences regarding the stability of 9.5 SPx vs. 9.6.
Thanks for sharing.
