Well I've kind of made some progress but not fixed it. All my Dev system components are on one box
1) Tried the SSD route for OS, Spilt database and logs onto different drives and put the temp db and page file on a separate partition on the same drive as the logs - sound reasonable?
OS boots really quickly but made do difference to the save speeds. Tried moving the page file around but that made no difference either (even on the SSD which surprised me a bit)
2) CPU - one thread always seems to be maxed out (although the thread changes) when a save is occurring so it looks like this is the bottleneck
3) raised a call with LANDesk and it looks like the system's performing a full metadata cache refresh rather than an incremental one - not sure how to fix that though and LANDesk are looking at it at the moment
Sounds to me Dave like you have 2 boxes both with SSDs. How are you partitioning?
