I have been recently trying to help out my software License manager to start using SLM to create compliance reports. When trying to import the data I kept on getting errors of failed to import x amount of lines which exactly matched the number of licenses I was trying to import. Through my efforts and may mistakes at trying different combinations I discovered my problem.
The Licenses manager assigned a dollar value to all the units costs. That is normal right? Well, yes it is but, for LANDesk that is not the right process.
I discovered that if you add a $ to the beginning of your value that will prevent the data from importing into the LDMS database. It was a simple fix just a reformat of the cells to a numerical value instead of currency in Excel.
I am posting this message to others trying to use SLM import features to have this knowledge out there so you will not have to look through all the documentation and find nothing on not having special characters for import. The only thing you can have is text and numbers with a decimal point. Anything else will cause your import to fail even though your data looks correct.
