You didn't lose the SA credentials. When you choose to install ManagementSuite using SQL Express, the SA password is generated for you. The install takes the NT user that's running the install and adds that user to SQL Express as an administrator. The intent is that you'll simply use NT authentication to connect to the SQL Express database. Using NTLM to connect to the server (<server>\ldmsdata) will get you in and then you can set the SA password to anything you want to. As mentioned above, run SvcCfg.exe to enter the new password for SA once you change it or none of your services will work.
