Well I was talking about configuration center itself. That is set up by default to use forms based login, but you can flick it to integrated login and thus avoid having to type in a password. However in addition, for Console access, you can copy the console folder and edit the config file in there to produce a console that will talk to a particular framework. Have multiple copies of these and you can have multiple icons to launch Console pointing to a particular framework, including https ones. It might not be ideal, but works round the issue and also means that when you click on a icon called 'DEV' it really does launch the DEV console. Picking from a list can introduce the possibility of human errors :-)
