Is it possible to modify the End User view of the Service Catalog (disable Link to CI)

I'm not sure specifically which area to post this - and I've read a few items that are similar in scope but have not seen a definitive asnwer:

* We just upgraded to 7.7.1 (from 7.5) release.

* Both releases act identically - the End User can view the Service Catalog - with a list of available sercices presented in the main portion of the users window.

* I'm interested in changing the behaviour of the "result list" as well as interested if the content could be changed. I am very interested in any advise to accomplish either or subject areas.

Note: with the 7.7.1 release the hyperlingk from the list of services launches the detail window the same as in the prior release - however the "Request Service" Action is no longer available from this window, making it less useful than prior release. I have found the window that is launched when the user clicks an item from the Services List (Asset/Asset/ - a window appropriate for an end user - found by inspecting the Windows manager rules) - but of course the Action is not managed on the window.

I have uploaded 3 screen shots for reference to this point. One showing the Service Catalog listing, and then 1 each of the detail wondow from each of the releases.

Wish List:

* I really want to "Disable the Hyperlink" that exists from clicking anywhere on the Service Catalog listing that drills into the detail item. As others seem to have noted there is no value here from the user perspective - it just takes them to the same information in a different format (and with 7.7.1 they don't even have the Action to request the service.

* I would also arrange the items on the listing fifferently if possible - with the "Request Service" button as the first item vs. at the end.

Either or both (removing an active link and/or controllingthe content) would result in a simpler user interaction. Users are constantly frustrated/confused by the link to the detail - removing this would be a direct improvement.

I did see the following in the Service Catalog guide - but it's confusing. It seem to point to a template for "a CI object" - but which one? Am I supposed to find a specific CI object type - and then a property of the object by this name? It hints at the ability to change to content list - but not to the point I can follow along.

"  You can change the appearance of the list of services by changing the ServiceCatalogueDisplay

Template for the Configuration Item object using Object Designer"

Of course - I suspect making either of the changes I want involve the same answer. I just can't seem to find my way to where the content structure is defined. Any help or a definitive "You can;t do that" would be appreciated. In the later case - any ideas why the "Request Service" action is no longer available from the Service equest detail window? I know well enough where to look within a process - but at this stage we are not yet in the Request Process - What process is actually in control when browsing in the catalog?

Hopefully this is clear - I really could =use a nudge in the right direction.

Terry
