It is the Console client. The line you referenced two lines down is also in the logs of other computers that are unaffected.
The problem is deffinitely computer based as no user can use the console on that machine and the normal user of the console can access the console from other machines.
Thanks for the info on resetting the layout. I went through it on the core, logged on as the user, just in case. It had no effect.
