What I finally did was write my own WOL engine (Skynet's Reveille ). I blogged about it here: .Net Discoveries : November 2010 - Posts . I took and modified this project so that the actual engine ran as a service and then created a separate application that would modify the settings/schedule and then save it back to a config file and restart the service so it would get the new settings. Been working for while now for us. I gave up on trying to use LANDesk for regularly scheduled WOL events, my way was easier.
